Russian Plane Crash

Wreckage of Russian Yak-42 jet, carrying a top ice hockey team, seen near the city of Yaroslavl, on the Volga River about 150 miles northeast of Moscow, Russia

I just want to take the time to offer my condolences to the family members who lost loved ones during the recently plane crash in Russia.
The plane was carrying players, coaches, and staff members of the Lokomotiv Yaroslavi Ice Hockey Team, in which 43 of them were killed.  Two individuals (flight crew member and hockey player) survived the plane crash, but are still in critical condition as of today (September 9, 2011) (International Business Times, 2011).
The Russian authorities said the plane (YAK 42) was not able to gain altitude and hit a signal tower soon after taking off from the Tunoshna Airport.  Investigators have recovered the “black box” data recordings, but the tapes were considered too wet to decipher (International Business Times, 2011).
A spokesman for Lokomotiv, Vladimir N. Malkov, said in a telephone interview, “we have no team any more; they all burned in the crash” (Barry & Kramer, 2011, p. 1).  Although this is a tragic event hopefully, the Russian’s will be able to put back together a hockey team and restore hope to those who live in the area.
Again, my heart goes out to all!!
